Start your career caring for dogs — one bath at a time.
At Healthy Spot, bathing isn’t just a prep step — it’s an important part of helping dogs feel comfortable, clean, and cared for. We’re looking for a kind, dependable Dog Bather to join our salon team in Los Angeles (Playa Vista, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, and West Hollywood) and support our groomers while delivering a calm, positive experience for every dog and pet parent.
This role is perfect for someone who loves dogs, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to grow in the pet care or grooming world.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Dog Bather, you’ll play a key role in each dog’s grooming experience by providing thorough, gentle bathing services and attentive care:
- Bathing, drying, brushing, and combing dogs so they leave clean, comfortable, and mat-free
- Trimming nails, cleaning ears, and expressing anal glands when trained and appropriate
- Assessing coat, skin, ears, nails, and overall condition and sharing observations with the salon team
- Thoughtfully recommending additional services or products when helpful and appropriate
- Greeting pet parents and their dogs by name and communicating estimated pick-up times
- Helping manage bathing flow based on salon priorities and walk-in needs
- Keeping bathing areas clean and sanitized after each dog
- Making sure every dog has fresh water, is checked regularly for stress, and is walked as scheduled
- Communicating any health or behavior concerns to the salon manager, groomers, and pet parents when appropriate
- Supporting groomers and teammates to keep the salon running smoothly
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine love for dogs and comfort handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Friendly, calm, and respectful communication with pet parents and teammates
- Willingness to learn and follow safety, handling, and care protocols
- Ability to stay organized, flexible, and positive in a busy salon environment
- Reliability, good judgment, and a strong sense of responsibility
No prior bathing or grooming experience required — we’re happy to train the right person.
Experience & Skills
- Customer service experience preferred, but not required
- Comfort working as part of a team and independently when needed
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to changing priorities
Pay & Earning Opportunity
We offer a fair, transparent pay structure that rewards experience, quality work, and initiative:
- $18.50 per hour, based on experience
- Tips, paid directly to you by pet parents
- Hourly pay is guaranteed for all hours worked, with bonuses and tips providing additional earning potential
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits
This role is hourly and non-exempt, with overtime, meal periods, and rest breaks provided in accordance with California and Los Angeles labor laws.
Physical Nature of the Role
This is an active, hands-on position that includes:
- Standing for most of the workday
- Frequent bending, reaching, gripping, and lifting
- Regular exposure to water, shampoos, grooming tools, and pet hair
- Lifting dogs up to 30 lbs independently (heavier dogs with assistance)
Why You’ll Love Healthy Spot

- Be part of a team that truly lives its “Got Heart” philosophy
- Learn the foundations of grooming and pet care from experienced professionals
- Opportunities to grow into grooming, leadership, or long-term pet care roles
- A workplace that values kindness, teamwork, and doing things the right way
- Go home a little dirty but knowing you made a positive difference in dogs’ lives!
