Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate healthcare claims using billing software and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Review medical records, including ICD (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding to ensure precise billing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and communicate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, patient accounts, and payment histories within healthcare claims management systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify patient information, medical records, and coding details for accuracy before submission.
- Stay updated on health insurance policies, coding changes, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding billing statements and explaining insurance processes clearly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, medical coding, or healthcare office administration.
- Strong knowledge of ICD (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, DRG systems, and healthcare claims management.
- Familiarity with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and medical records management.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Prior experience in medical collection processes is preferred but not required.
