Experience Design Specialist I: $42,120.00 - $67,392.00 annually plus benefits
The initial compensation for this position generally falls between $42,120.00 and $44,226.00 contingent upon relevant experience and qualifications.
Experience Design Specialist II: $45,825.00 - $73,320.00 annually plus benefits
The initial compensation for this position generally falls between $45,825.00 and $48,116.25, contingent upon relevant experience and qualifications.

Engages customers in the Exploration Commons (EC) Teaching Kitchen and assists with their cooking needs in person, on the phone, via email, or through social media. Develops and implements instructional programming for the Teaching Kitchen. The Experience Design Specialist II – Teaching Kitchen position represents a higher level of skill, responsibility, and independence than the Experience Design Specialist I – Teaching Kitchen. Facilitates and manages use of the meeting rooms. Provides administrative and clerical support as needed.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions
Delivers exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their EC-related questions, including but not limited to, troubleshooting of all EC equipment.
Primarily assigned to the Teaching Kitchen but collaborates with and supports the Makerspace operations as necessary.
Plans, prepares, and provides trainings and programs on Exploration Commons resources for individuals and groups, ensuring safe operation.
Provides project management for long-term, larger-scale projects or initiatives.
Operates all audiovisual equipment in all meeting rooms.
Operates and maintains Teaching Kitchen equipment and provides systemwide support for it.
Provides supervision and oversight for volunteers and interns.
Maintains professional growth and development through participation in library teams, committees, outreach, and training activities.
Learns new skills and technologies to retain proficiency in areas of expertise via online and in-person training.
Works with community partners for program and content creation.
Maintains high quality standards of products and services.
Communicates library policies and procedures to customers as appropriate.
Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of all CCPL policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Maintains Library Associate (LATI) Certification.
Commitment to outstanding internal and external customer service.
Ability to use clear, professional communication to create and tailor instructions based on individual needs and experience.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Must be a self-starter and motivated to learn new technologies.
Ability to learn the use of all equipment located in the Teaching Kitchen and be able to provide basic training on all equipment.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all staff.
Project management skills.
Ability to act as a representative of the library to the public.
Experience Design Specialist I – Teaching Kitchen:
High school diploma or GED
At least one year of directly related commercial kitchen experience
Six months or more of customer service or retail experience
Obtain Food Protection Manager certification within the first year of employment
Obtain Instructor Proctor Certification within the first year of employment
Experience Design Specialist II – Teaching Kitchen:
- Bachelor’s degree
One to two years of directly related experience with commercial kitchen equipment
Requires 90 contact hours of approved in-service training through Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within first 2 years of employment or 9 hours of formal academic course work in library science
Obtain Food Protection Manager certification within the first year of employment
Obtain Instructor Proctor certification within the first year of employment
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Work requires being physically able to life up to 30 lbs., push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 100 lbs., stand on ladders, and bend to floor.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, and libraries, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions.
