Job Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Technician – Poultry Processing Plant
Location: Florence, SC
Reports To: Quality Assurance Supervisor / QA Manager

Position Summary:
The QA Technician is responsible for monitoring and verifying that all poultry products meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This role ensures compliance with food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and USDA regulations) and supports continuous improvement in production quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Verify compliance with HACCP, SSOP, and GMP programs throughout production.
- Perform microbiological, chemical, and physical tests as required.
- Monitor processing areas for proper sanitation, temperature control, and employee hygiene.
- Inspect equipment and processing lines for cleanliness and potential contamination risks.
- Record and maintain accurate QA documentation, logs, and reports.
- Assist in USDA inspections and respond to non-conformances or deviations.
- Communicate quality issues to supervisors and work with production teams to implement corrective actions.
- Participate in product sampling, shelf-life testing, and label verification.
- Support training of plant personnel on food safety and quality procedures.
- Maintain calibration and proper use of QA equipment (thermometers, scales, pH meters, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to company, customer, and regulatory standards at all times.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in quality assurance or food processing (preferably poultry or meat industry).
Knowledge & Skills:
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and USDA regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production and management teams.
- Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a cold, wet, fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Tolerance for working in cold and wet conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 1st shift and 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, occasional Saturdays)
- Overtime or weekend work may be required during peak production periods.
