Job Overview
You’ll be the technical engine behind a boutique family office serving founders through the sale of their businesses. While the lead advisor owns the client relationship, you’ll own the problem-solving—building financial plans, managing portfolio execution, and running down solutions so nothing falls through the cracks.
This isn’t a traditional paraplanner role. You’ll dig into complex planning situations, coordinate with bankers and attorneys, troubleshoot on behalf of clients, and bring solutions back to the table. You need technical depth and the initiative to move without waiting.
What You’ll Own
- Build and maintain comprehensive financial plans covering cash flow, tax, estate, and risk
- Regularly update plans based on evolving client circumstances
- Support clients through liquidity events, exits, and generational transitions
- Execute portfolio management—research and risk management
- Conduct investment research, due diligence, and manager selection
- Monitor portfolio performance and implement rebalancing strategies
- Coordinate with CPAs, estate attorneys, bankers, and other professionals on client behalf
- Troubleshoot client needs and find solutions—financing, insurance, account issues—without being asked twice
- Prepare materials and analysis for client meetings
- Step into technical conversations with clients when needed
What Exceptional Looks Like
- The lead advisor stops worrying about the details because you’ve already handled them
- Outside professionals enjoy working with you and respond quickly
- You bring solutions, not just problems
- Clients trust your expertise even if you’re not leading the meeting
- Complex situations make you curious, not overwhelmed
- Your advice is well-documented and defensible
Who Thrives Here
You’re the person who reads the footnotes. Complex situations don’t stress you out—they wake you up. You like knowing how things actually work, not just the surface-level answer, and you take quiet pride in being the one who figured it out.
You’re not looking to be the face of the firm. But you’re not hiding in a back room either. You’re comfortable picking up the phone, coordinating across professionals, and pushing things to resolution. You just don’t need the credit.
You want a seat at the table—not to be seen, but to be trusted. You’re looking for a firm where your expertise matters, where problems are interesting, and where the lead advisor relies on you because you’ve earned it.
