Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 3rd Shift Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team.
This vital role involves operating heavy-duty grinding equipment during overnight hours to ensure the efficient processing of recyclable and solid waste materials.
Role and Responsibilities
- Operate grinding machines, achieving specifications including quality and throughput.
- Implement continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools.
- Work from procedures and prescribed operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality specifications.
- Monitor, observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions.
- Ensure work piece is being properly lubricated and cooled; coolant lines properly located.
- Monitor process and specifications.
- Notify supervisor and/or department Lead Person of discrepancies.
- Perform own part inspection during grinding process to measure work piece to check to match specs, using measuring instruments such as microscope, optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, dial indicators and gauges.
- Communicate with co-workers, members of other shifts, technical leader, team leader and/or supervisor to transfer and receive instructions and information.
- Perform 1st piece and In-process inspections for self.
- Record measurements per inspection plans and methods indicated.
- Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery operation and maintenance is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
- Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and environmental regulations.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
Shift is Sunday to Friday 11pm to 7am
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
