Position Title: Senior Tax Reviewer
Employment Type: Part-Time
Location: Springfield, MO (Hybrid/Remote options)
Compensation: Depends on experience
Spectrum Accounting is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our team in a part-time, seasonal capacity as a senior tax reviewer. The majority of hours for this role will fall during tax season (January through April). This role is ideal for a highly credentialed tax professional who wants to stay engaged in the profession without the demands of a full-time role.
While the core season runs January through April, we are open to discussing additional hours outside of that period if desired or as needed.
As a senior tax reviewer, you will review individual, business, and/or fiduciary tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current tax law. You will identify errors, missed deductions and credits, and planning opportunities, and flag complex or high-risk items for further review. You will help ensure every return meets our firm's quality-control standards prior to filing, stay current on relevant federal and state tax law changes during the season, and communicate professionally with staff regarding review notes and corrections.
-
10+ years of tax experience, with at least 5 years as a high level tax reviewer, and a strong track record of reviewing complex individual and business tax returns, identifying errors, and providing clear feedback
-
Deep technical knowledge across individual and business tax returns
-
Proven ability to review complex returns independently with minimal training
-
Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Knowledgeable about various tax software programs (experience with UltraTax is a plus)
-
Comfortable working entirely within a digital tax review process, as all returns, documentation, and review workflows are handled electronically
This is a part-time, flexible position requiring roughly 10-20 hours per week during tax season (January through April), with additional hours available in the off-season as needed. We offer the option to work remote, hybrid, or in office. As a part-time seasonal role, it is not benefits-eligible. We are looking for an experienced professional who wants meaningful, flexible seasonal work rather than a full-time commitment.
You will enjoy a flexible, seasonal schedule that respects your time, along with meaningful, high-level work that draws on your full career expertise, all with the flexibility of remote or hybrid arrangements.
To Apply: Please submit your resume through this job posting, along with any relevant notes about your tax experience if you would like to include them.
