Duties
- Assist dentists with chairside procedures across general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry specialties.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and manage medical imaging using advanced tools such as 3D scanners while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, and patient management software to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment plans.
- Support patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and ensuring patient comfort throughout visits.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records in compliance with healthcare privacy standards.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team as part of four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow and enhance patient experience.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a busy dental clinic environment, including familiarity with dental equipment, sterilization procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental x-ray techniques and medical imaging tools such as 3D scanners.
- Skilled in managing dental assisting tasks using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or other patient management software is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards along with aseptic techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while providing exceptional patient care; prior experience in pediatrics is advantageous.
- Certification in dental assisting or equivalent credentials; knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical coding practices is preferred.
