Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify appointments, and facilitate smooth patient flow throughout the office
- Collect and process patient intake information, including insurance details and medical history
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient information
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR), ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits, test results, and treatment plans
- Assist with ophthalmic patient examinations by preparing necessary equipment and supporting clinical staff with procedures like imaging
- Support medical office operations by scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and managing medical records with precision
- Uphold aseptic techniques during clinical interactions to prevent infection and ensure patient safety
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, Optometry or Ophthalmology practice highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to eye health, and physiology fundamentals
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently
- Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment is a plus
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and care delivery
- Basic retail math skills for handling billing or optical sales when needed
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
