The Phlebotomist is an integral member of the medical laboratory team whose primary function is the collection of blood samples from patients. Phlebotomists also facilitate the collection and transportation of other laboratory specimens ( e.g. urine ). Very often the patient’s only contact with the medical laboratory is the phlebotomist. Many patients, from children and teens to adults, often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. It takes a skilled Phlebotomist to put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. In this specific role, you will start your day with off-site specimen collections at skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities or even group homes and then finish the shift at an outpatient draw station at one of our Martin or St. Lucie county locations.
A caregiver in this position works days Monday-Friday from 4:00AM – 12:30PM or 7:00AM – 3:30PM .
