Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is seeking experienced Lead Fitter/Welders to join our team at our Clinton, IL plant. In this role, you will lead and support welding operations by laying out, fitting, fabricating, repairing, and inspecting steel components in accordance with blueprints, layouts, schematics, and work orders. You will use jigs, holding fixtures, measuring tools, manual, semi-automatic, and automatic welding equipment to produce high-quality work that meets specifications, safety standards, and production deadlines.

What you'll do:
- Lead, guide, and support a team of welders to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production
- Repair welds and perform complex welding repairs as needed to meet quality standards
- Assist in coordinating and completing work assignments to meet production schedules and deadlines
- Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair metal components and other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, semi-automatic, and automatic welding equipment
- Complete advanced fitting, welding, and repair work requiring precision, attention to detail, and sound judgment
- Weld clips, hardware, and related components in accordance with applicable specifications
- Perform full-penetration welds, including slip joint welds, to connect ends to poles, channels, or other structural components
- Operate grinding equipment and other tools safely and effectively to prepare, finish, and repair welded components
- Train, coach, and assist less experienced welders as needed
- Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using drawings, measurements, and specifications
- Position components in jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments, hand tools, and established work methods
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications, quality requirements, and applicable inspection standards
- Maintain productivity, quality, and efficiency while supporting continuous improvement within the work area
- Follow all standard safety practices, procedures, and company policies
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required documentation in a timely manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant operations
What you'll need:
- Minimum of 4 years of welding, fitting, or related fabrication experience
- Experience with Flux Core welding processes
- Certification or demonstrated ability to perform horizontal and vertical welds
- Ability to perform multi-pass welds with consistent quality
- Ability to perform circumference, or “C,” welds
- Ability to qualify as a flat welder
- Ability to maintain a 90% pass rate on UT inspection
- Basic understanding of Oxy Fuel and Plasma burning processes
- Basic understanding of Carbon Arcing processes
- Consistent and reliable attendance
