Overview
We are a truck rental and upfitter Company seeking a dedicated and skilled full time CDL Class B Truck Driver & Shop Helper to join our team. This is a hybrid role where you will be driving trucks when needed but also help around the shop when we do not have any deliveries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering trucks efficiently to various destinations and when not delivering trucks will be helping with tasks in our diesel repair shop. . Some weeks are extremely busy with driving and some are lighter. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate different routes while adhering to delivery schedules. The Truck Driver will operate various types of vehicles including bucket trucks, TMA trucks, Scissor trucks and water trucks ensuring that all freight is delivered in a timely manner. When not driving trucks, this person will be responsible for washing/detailing vehicles, helping out mechanics in the shop and doing other miscellaneous tasks to stay busy.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with company policies.
- Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules while considering traffic patterns and road conditions.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records as required by law.
- Communicate with dispatchers regarding any issues or delays encountered during transport
- Wash/Detail trucks when back from rentals
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while on the road.
- Assist mechanics in our diesel shop
- Put together snowplows
- minor mechanical tasks
Experience
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B Required)
- Experience as a delivery driver or route driver is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
- Mechanical experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of local and regional roadways is beneficial for efficient route planning.
