Working Foreman / Journeyman Electrician

Pay: $49.00 - $57.00 per hour
ProPhase Electric is hiring a Working Foreman to run our field crews on luxury and custom residential and commercial projects, both new construction and renovations. This is a hands-on role. You lead the job and you work it, setting the daily pace and installing right alongside your crew. We hold a high standard on every project, and precision, craftsmanship, and clean work matter to us. Required certifications:
- Valid California State Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Must pass a background check
What you’ll do:
This is a working foreman role, so you lead the crew and you’re in it with your tools every day.
- Run work in the field and install alongside your crew
- Lead and direct the crew, set the daily pace, and keep work on schedule
- Lay out work from plans and direct journeymen and apprentices on tasks
- Own quality control; inspect your crew’s work and make sure it meets our standard before it gets covered
- Coordinate with general contractors, other trades, and the office to keep the job moving
- Handle material takeoffs and order ahead so the crew is never waiting on parts
- Track job progress and flag issues, delays, or change order items to the office early
- Mentor apprentices and less experienced journeymen
- Keep accurate daily documentation (photos, progress notes, as-builts)
- This role includes a few hours of office and planning time each week (roughly 2-3) for job planning, material takeoffs, scheduling, and documentation. The rest of your week is in the field with your crew.
Requirements and expectations:
- Minimum 8 years of documented field experience, with time spent leading or running crews
- Strong residential experience, ideally on high-end or custom homes
- Consistently delivers clean, high-quality work and holds a crew to the same standard
- Professional appearance and demeanor; keeps work areas and service vehicle clean and organized
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with homeowners, clients, the office, and your crew
- Reads and works from blueprints, plans, and schematics, and can lay out a job from them
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Owns a full set of hand tools and basic power tools
- Reliable and punctual; manages daily and weekly schedules and works efficiently
- Works well with ownership, communicates openly, and follows through on commitments
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
A strong plus: Experience with smart home and lighting control systems (Lutron HomeWorks, RadioRA, automated shades), AV systems, and low-voltage networking.
