Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following infection prevention management and dental sterilization procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using patient management software like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care and medical documentation accuracy.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and cooperation.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Dental Assistant with current licensure or certification recognized in your region.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with patient management software is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental instrument processing, and infection control protocols including aseptic technique.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely and accurately; experience with 3D scanners is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care excellence, healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, and adherence to clinical safety standards.
