Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, dependable live-in caregiver to join our Adult Family Home caring for up to six residents. This is a full-time, live-in position for someone who enjoys providing quality care in a warm, home-like environment.
The caregiver will be responsible for overnight resident care, assisting residents with their morning routines, and providing care throughout the day with support from additional staff members. This position offers a private living space, a consistent schedule, and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with residents. *Female preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor patient health through observation of vital signs, medication administration, and maintaining accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Assist with medical tasks including catheter care, wound care, and managing medical devices while adhering to home healthcare regulations and HIPAA confidentiality standards.
- Support clients with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease by implementing memory care strategies and engaging in activities that promote cognitive health.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Maintain clear communication with clients’ families and healthcare teams regarding patient status, changes in condition, or concerns related to patient care.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid or basic life support (BLS), including CPR when needed, ensuring the safety of the client at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living, home healthcare, or long-term care environments; experience working with individuals with disabilities or geriatrics is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication management, vital signs monitoring, and patient personal care assistance.
- Familiarity with home health agency operations, hospice care protocols, dementia/Alzheimer’s/dementia care techniques, and end-of-life support practices.
- Ability to operate EMR/EHR systems efficiently for documentation purposes; experience with home health systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration; understanding of HIPAA regulations for maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Certification in first aid and CPR; additional certifications in basic life support (BLS) or medical assisting are advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on client location; flexibility to work live-in shifts that may include weekends or holidays.

Schedule
