ADMINISTRATIVE/DESIGN ASSISTANT [Part-Time]
Interior Matter is a full-service (and FUN) residential interior design firm covering metro Washington, DC, and beyond. Our Dupont Circle studio is currently seeking a part-time Interior Design Assistant.
The role requires the Designer to work well both independently and within our team. Our ideal candidate: Flexible, solution-oriented, self-motivated, able to stay on task and work independently without much supervision, proactive, organized, upbeat, positive attitude, and a desire to be a contributor to the success of our firm.
Please note that our office is on the first floor of a building with no elevators and is only accessible via stairs from the street. Street parking is available but limited. We are proximal to the Dupont Metro stop.
Experience
- 1-2 years of administrative experience in interior design, architecture, or related field
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the principal designer and design team in a collaborative environment
- Assist in materials and furnishings selections, pricing and specification documentation
- Assist with budget spreadsheet development and management
- Assist with client presentation materials
- Attend client meetings and record meeting notes as well as other support
- Assist with administrative and organizational work
- Assist with sample library maintenance
- Work with clients, trades, vendors, and partner communications
- Assist with marketing and social media
- Occasionally pick up and deliver samples (or arrange courier) to showrooms and clients
Part-time: Hours are flexible and negotiable.
Salary: Starting at $25/hr
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge of interior designnecessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Work under immediate supervision; however, must also be able to work independently and proactively on projects without supervision
- Must be very organized and efficient
- Must be able to occasionally carry or move boxes or items weighing up to 40 lbs.
Location: In-person, not remote
