Perform preventive, diagnostic and corrective procedures on a variety of older heavy equipment including but not limited to Category 1 Mobile Cranes, backhoe, forklifts, IT’s, telehandlers, fire trucks, emergency equipment, Fuelers IAW OPNAVINST 5100.12, OPNAVINST 5100.25, and AUTEC Project Procedures.
Diagnose and repair component and system failures in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Identify required repair parts and submit procurement requests.
Record and document maintenance activities as required.
Be able to read and understand manufacturers shop manuals.
Be able to effectively communicate with suppliers occasionally.
Responsible for safeguarding and locking up issued Government tools.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must obtain Class “A” CDL within 1 year of hire.
Manufacturer or Military Specific training (Cummins, International, EVT, etc.).
15+ years related experience in mechanical evaluation and repair.
10+ years directly related experience with Category 1 mobile crane repair.
Must obtain NCC Mobile Crane Mechanic certifications within 3 Months of hire.
Must have excellent mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills.
Ability to understand and follow manufacturer’s technical publications, schematics and parts manuals.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in all kinds of weather, including extreme heat.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
Valid U.S. passport and driver's license will be required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
