The Role
The Repair & Maintenance Technician is a non-exempt position responsible for performing preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance and repair work for store facilities, equipment, and building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant grocery store operations. This role supports the maintenance of retail facilities, refrigeration systems, utilities, and related equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
Reporting to the R&M Manager, you are responsible to perform preventative or corrective maintenance to a wide variety of facilities and equipment for the stores in your designated areas.

Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, opened in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and standing as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.
You Will:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on store equipment, building systems, utilities, and facility components.
- Conduct general maintenance and repair work including carpentry, painting, flooring repairs, cabinet installation and repair, door and window repairs, hardware replacement, sealant and caulking applications, light fixture replacement, and minor roofing repairs.
- Inspect building systems and equipment on a scheduled basis using maintenance checklists to proactively identify repair needs and safety concerns.
- Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration systems, compressors, ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, coolers, split systems, emergency generators, and related mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and recommend appropriate repair solutions and replacement parts.
- Perform equipment installation, maintenance, and minor construction or renovation work as assigned.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal Project Management teams to support maintenance and store projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and supporting documentation in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations, food safety standards, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Operate tools, machinery, and equipment safely using proper techniques, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety procedures.
- Support emergency repair requests and respond to urgent maintenance situations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
You Should Have/Be:
- Minimum 1–2 years of repair and maintenance experience in a fast-paced retail, grocery, supermarket, warehouse, or commercial environment preferred.
- Experience working with refrigeration, HVAC, ventilation systems, pumps, compressors, cabinet coolers, and related building equipment is preferred.
- Relevant trade certifications or licenses such as Electrical, Refrigeration, HVAC, Air Conditioning, or Gas Technician certification are considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with workplace safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe equipment operation practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and perform physical work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, or emergency maintenance schedules as operationally required.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 lbs regularly and occasionally lift heavier materials with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to cold, heat, noise, dust, mechanical equipment, and refrigeration areas.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, power equipment, ladders, and machinery.
- Ability to perform maintenance work at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving mechanical equipment when required.
- Must be able to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and safety regulations.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations, including extended standing or physical activity as operationally required.
