JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Application & Product Development
- Design and development of polymer-based sealing systems, wear components, and engineered parts for industrial and rotating equipment.
- Translate customer operating conditions (pressure, temperature, speed, media, tolerances) into validated engineering design criteria.
- Conduct formal design reviews, secondary checks, and validation verification activities.
- Develop engineering specifications, drawings, and documentation using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
Project & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead assigned cross-functional engineering projects from concept through validation and production release.
- Develop project plans, validation strategies, and risk assessments. Monitor project scope, schedule, and technical risk.
- Serve as technical interface to customers in coordination with Sales and Business Development.
- Support supplier technical evaluations and material approvals.
Validation, Testing & Failure Analysis
- Design and execute validation testing for materials and product performance.
- Interpret test data to validate design assumptions and refine performance limits.
- Perform structured root cause failure analysis (RCA, DOE, etc.) and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare technical reports and customer-facing documentation.
Manufacturing & Quality Integration
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure scalable, repeatable production processes.
- Support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and process capability development.
- Participate in quality initiatives, audits, and engineering change management (ECR/ECN).
- Apply structured problem-solving and appropriate statistical tools (SPC/SQC).
Continuous Improvement & Mentorship
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance to designers on assigned programs and promote engineering best practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based at a manufacturing facility in Humble, TX. Work will primarily be office-based with regular interaction in laboratory, production, and assembly areas.
Travel to customer sites, technical organizations, and trade events may be required (up to 25%).
Exposure to industrial environments including high noise, pressure, temperature, chemicals, and heavy equipment may occur.
