Van Andel Institute (VAI), a world-class biomedical research institute, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is dedicated to improving human health. We are pioneers in the fight against cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators.
The Lab of Darren Moore in the Department of Neurodegenerative Science at Van Andel Institute is looking for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to join a collaborative research program focused on the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease.
The position is available for an ambitious scientist to use or establish biochemical, cell biological and rodent models to investigate the pathogenic mechanisms underlying VPS35 or LRRK2 mutations in familial Parkinson’s disease. The laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach in numerous experimental model systems, including primary neurons and astrocytes, human iPSC-derived models, rodents and human brain tissue, to elucidate the normal biological function and pathophysiological mechanisms of proteins linked to inherited forms of Parkinson’s disease, with a particular interest in the role and convergence of these proteins in the endolysosomal pathway.
