Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, caulking, plastering, and applying primers to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute painting projects according to specifications.
- Apply paint using various methods including brush painting, roller painting, spray painting (conventional and airless), and construction spray painting techniques.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment safely to reach high or difficult areas while adhering to safety regulations.
- Perform surface repairs such as masonry work, stucco application, concrete finishing, and fixture installation to ensure a smooth foundation for painting.
- Select appropriate coatings based on project requirements considering color theory, surface type, and environmental conditions.
- Follow safety protocols diligently by wearing respiratory protection and other PPE to maintain a safe work environment at all times.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and project progress for accountability and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with team members on renovation projects or restoration efforts to ensure timely completion with high standards of craftsmanship.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction painting across residential, commercial, or industrial settings with a strong understanding of construction site procedures.
- Skilled in surface preparation techniques including plastering, caulking, sanding, and priming for various substrates such as drywall, wood trim, stucco, or masonry.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings essential for precise project execution.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to construction painting environments including respiratory protection and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools (such as drills and sanders), paint sprayers (airless or conventional), and scaffolding or ladder use.
- Ability to perform color matching using visual comparison tools combined with an understanding of color theory principles.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary during estimating or surface preparation tasks.
- Additional skills such as carpentry (trim or frame), masonry work like stucco or concrete finishing, welding or fixture installation are advantageous but not mandatory.
