Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive medical care within correctional facilities, utilizing your expertise to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a diverse patient population. Your clinical skills and dedication will help ensure optimal health outcomes while adhering to regulatory standards and best practices.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and needs.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations, and manage ongoing treatment plans.
- Perform medical procedures such as suturing, IV insertions, catheterizations, spinal taps, and dermal filler injections.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to optimize patient care.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions across various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, telehealth platforms, and emergency situations.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as geriatrics, behavioral health, infectious disease care, pain management, and hospice & palliative medicine.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation.
- Experience with diverse clinical procedures including suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, and sterile technique.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), ICD-9/10.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs measurement and diagnostic evaluation.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient management.
- Background in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; hospital medicine; emergency medicine; or urgent care settings.
- Experience working with special populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia & Alzheimer’s care.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law and post-acute care practices; experience in hospice & palliative medicine is a plus.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures like gastric lavage or spinal taps; experience with sonography or medical imaging is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; knowledge of HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.

Pay: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour
