Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Floor Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in various clinical settings, including acute care, long-term care, and specialty units such as ICU, Emergency Room, and Geriatrics. This role involves providing high-quality patient care across diverse populations, utilizing advanced nursing skills, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. The Floor Nurse will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive assessments, administering treatments, and coordinating patient care plans to promote optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage catheterization procedures with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Monitor patients' conditions using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory care, and behavioral health issues.
- Manage acute pain and facilitate pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, medical imaging coordination, and diagnostic testing such as spinal taps or sonography.
- Assist with airway management, ventilator support, tube feeding, and sterile procedures following aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care coordination.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication administration, home & community care practices.
- Ensure infection control practices are followed rigorously to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Support patients across various settings including inpatient units like ICU or PICU, outpatient clinics, hospice care, or home & community environments.
Experience
Candidates should possess a broad range of clinical experience including but not limited to:
- Critical care experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers or Emergency Rooms.
- Geriatrics expertise with dementia/dementia care and memory care specialization.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), obstetrics (family planning), or neonatal intensive care units (NICU).
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is required; experience with medical documentation tools like CPT coding is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques essential for sterile processing procedures.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization or Botox treatments is a plus. Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
