Are you looking for a rewarding career with a dynamic company? We are currently looking for a full-time CDL Driver/Road Crew Member (Manual Transmission only) to assist with metal recycling activities. This position will be based out of our Granite Falls, NC location.
Responsibilities:
Including, but not limited to:
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
- Hook and unhook trailers from tractor cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers.
- Inspect trailers/truck for defects and make sure they are in safe operating condition before, during, and after trips, being sure to report any defects or needed repairs to manager.
- Perform DOT daily operation and safety inspection.
- The driver must submit in writing, a report of the condition of the truck/trailer at the end of each day or upon switching equipment if repairs are required.
- Check shipping paperwork to determine the nature of the load
- Maintain records required for compliance with the State and Federal regulations including driver's logs, fuel purchases, mileage, and all other records required by the company.
- Maintain on a daily basis the proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operation and scrap movement.
- Communicates with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the company policies and procedures and comply with the State and Federal regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment.
- Promptly report delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions, or other emergencies relating to pick up or delivery of product.
- Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform normal daily operation maintenance refueling lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping
- Clean delivery truck as needed including but not limited to keeping any and all work areas neat and orderly.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
- Organizing materials to have more effective use of space.
- Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
- Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
- Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
- All other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Class A CDL license as well with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- 2 years driving experience preferred.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift at least 75lbs
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- A highly self-motivated, attentive, authoritative and able to direct with ease and confidence team player.
- A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations, without exception.
- High ethical standards including but not limited to trust and integrity.
- Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
- Ability to work with different types of employees, customers, vendors to ensure a cohesive work environment and positive customer experience.
- Ability to be flexible to changing needs of the business and adapt quickly.
- Must pass a medical physical and drug test
- Must pass a background check
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
- Previous experience operating a Wheel Loader a plus
- Depending on location of job (specifically referring to any jobs that require driver to be out of town for an extended period of time) drivers/roadcrew members should anticipate a schedule of Monday morning head out time (early morning hours) and a return back on Friday afternoon. In the event that a driver is required to be out of town, hotel and food accommodations will be provided by JMB Recycling and Demolition at no cost to the employee.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Moderate physical activity
- Requires handling of average-weight objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Sitting for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Class A CDL License in good standing and/or Class B CDL License with medical card records.
- No serious tickets or accidents in last 3 years.
