Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Fabricator / Millwright for our client in Portland, OR. This role supports both in-shop fabrication/welding and field service work including installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment and structures. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: structural fabrication, welding, equipment installation and repair, mechanical alignment, and working in both shop and field environments.
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $33–$38/hour DOE + 25% premium for field work
Shift: Day Shift (overtime and weekend work as needed)
Travel: Up to 10% travel primarily within the Western U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural fabrication and welding in a shop environment, including layout, fit-up, and assembly of steel components
- Install, maintain, repair, remove, and replace industrial equipment and structural components in both shop and field settings
- Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on equipment including conveyors, dam gates, and industrial machinery
- Assist with alignment and installation of components such as shafts, pulleys, idlers, and related systems
- Operate manlifts and work in elevated environments as required
- Work in a variety of environments ranging from clean facilities to industrial or transfer sites
- Travel as needed to customer sites using company-provided transportation (vehicle or air travel)
- Follow all safety requirements including PPE and site-specific protocols
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in millwright, fabrication, or industrial maintenance roles
- Experience with both shop fabrication and field installation or repair work
- Proficiency with FCAW and SMAW welding processes
- Ability to pass a 3G FCAW weld test (1” plate, CJP vertical weld) Experience working with industrial equipment such as conveyors, structural components, or mechanical systems
- Basic millwright and fabrication tools required
- Valid driver’s license U.S. Citizenship required due to government-related work
- Ability to pass pre-employment requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work including standing, bending, crawling, and squatting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in high-mix industrial environments or field service roles
- Experience with equipment alignment, rigging, or installation projects
- Experience operating lifts or working at heights

Work Environment
This role operates primarily in a fabrication shop environment with occasional field work at customer sites. Shop work includes welding and fabrication activities, while field work may involve installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment in a variety of conditions, including elevated work areas. PPE and safety compliance are required at all times.
