Position Overview
The Cannabis Consultant serves as a primary point of contact for customers and plays a critical role in shaping the in-store experience. This position requires strong product knowledge, regulatory awareness, and the ability to manage customer flow in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining compliance with New York State cannabis regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Retail Operations
- Execute opening and closing procedures, including workstation setup, tablet management, merchandising adjustments, and general cleanliness
- Maintain a well-organized, compliant sales floor and back-of-house area
- Assist with inventory restocking and basic inventory controls
- Support occasional scheduled delivery operations as directed by management
Customer Experience
- Greet and check in customers, verify identification, and create or update customer profiles in the POS system
- Manage traffic flow to ensure a smooth and compliant in-store experience
- Provide personalized product recommendations based on customer preferences and needs
- Educate customers on product categories, cannabinoid profiles, terpenes, and consumption methods
- Communicate current promotions, featured products, and loyalty initiatives
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Adhere strictly to all New York State cannabis regulations and company policies
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding customer information and transactions
- Ensure all sales are accurately processed through the POS system
Marketing & Community Support
- Participate in in-store activations and brand collaborations
- Assist with promotional distribution and community engagement initiatives as requested
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed
- Bend, kneel, and perform repetitive retail tasks
Additional duties may be assigned by management as business needs evolve.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
- Prior retail, hospitality, or cannabis industry experience required
- Professional demeanor and high attention to detail
- Ability to operate within regulated retail environments
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
