Diesel Technician Job Description:
As a Diesel Technician at R & J Trucking, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engine trucks, and various types of trailers. Your role is crucial in keeping our fleet in top condition, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safe and reliable service to our customers.
Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on trucks & trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and carry out necessary repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and ensure vehicle safety.
- Troubleshoot and repair air braking systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair emission systems using OEM software.
- Troubleshoot and repair collision mitigation/roll stability systems using OEM Software.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Collaborate with the team to complete repairs efficiently.
- Ensure that all work complies FMCSA/DOT standards.
Diesel Tech Benefits:

Diesel Mechanic Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a diesel technician or diesel mechanic required.
- 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic is a bonus.
- 10+ years of experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, their components, and systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
