Position Summary
The Assistant Hotel Manager assists the General Manager in the daily operation of the hotel by ensuring exceptional guest service, maximizing revenue, maintaining brand standards, supervising team members, and ensuring the property operates efficiently, safely, and profitably. The Assistant Manager serves as the Manager on Duty when the General Manager is unavailable.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Ensure every guest receives professional, friendly, and efficient service.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally.
- Respond to guest reviews and follow up on service recovery opportunities.
- Ensure all guest requests are handled promptly.
- Promote guest satisfaction and brand loyalty programs.
Front Office Operations
- Supervise front desk associates and night audit.
- Ensure accurate check-in and check-out procedures.
- Verify guest identification and payment methods.
- Monitor room availability, occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.
- Ensure reservations are entered correctly.
- Review room assignments and upgrades.
- Monitor group arrivals and departures.
- Verify daily cash handling procedures and deposits.
Housekeeping
- Coordinate with the Executive Housekeeper to ensure all rooms meet cleanliness standards.
- Conduct daily room inspections.
- Verify all vacant rooms are inspected before being released for sale.
- Ensure public areas remain clean and presentable.
- Follow up on out-of-order and out-of-service rooms.
Maintenance
- Report maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow up on work orders until completed.
- Perform routine property inspections.
- Ensure life safety equipment remains operational.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance with engineering.
Revenue Management
- Assist in maximizing occupancy and average daily rate.
- Monitor room inventory.
- Review daily reports for rate accuracy.
- Ensure proper authorization of discounts and complimentary rooms.
- Identify opportunities to increase hotel revenue.
Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in controlling labor costs.
- Monitor departmental expenses.
- Review daily revenue reports.
- Verify cash handling accuracy.
- Assist with monthly inventories.
- Help achieve budgeted financial goals.
Team Leadership
- Supervise hotel employees during assigned shifts.
- Coach and train team members.
- Conduct shift meetings.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Promote teamwork and accountability.
- Address employee performance issues appropriately.
Safety and Security
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, and safety regulations.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Maintain security procedures for guests and employees.
- Report incidents accurately and promptly.
- Protect hotel assets.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare daily reports.
- Review pass-on logs.
- Monitor guest service scores.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards.
- Assist with audits and inspections.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of hotel supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 30 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs as needed.
- Respond quickly to emergencies throughout the property.

Working Conditions

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
