Duties
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans tailored for children’s nutritional needs
- Assist in planning menus that incorporate a variety of healthy foods, including options suitable for special dietary requirements
- Follow food safety protocols, including sanitizing procedures and proper food handling techniques to ensure a safe dining environment
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils through proper sanitizing procedures to uphold health standards
- Manage food inventory, monitor supplies, and assist with ordering ingredients to ensure continuous meal service
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth food service operations for children and staff
Experience
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitation procedures in commercial kitchen settings
- Experience with food industry standards such as catering, restaurant service, or fine dining is advantageous
- Skilled in various cooking techniques including poaching, braising, grilling, and food handling with knife skills proficiency
- Familiarity with dietary requirements specific to children’s nutrition and special diets is preferred
- Previous kitchen experience in the food service or restaurant industry will support success in this role
