We are actively seeking a dynamic Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to help us make a difference and enhance the lives of our residents on a daily basis. Rehab Select has five state-of-the art facilities in Alabama. Shelby Ridge is our 131-bed, long-term care and rehab facility in the heart of Alabaster - where we take pride in the rehab therapy we provide.
Your responsibilities would include:
- Interviewing residents to evaluate daily living skills and capacities to determine extent of abilities and limitations
- Determine appropriate treatment, selecting activities and exercises based on medical and social history
- Briefing residents on procedures involved in occupational therapy and prepare necessary equipment
- Transporting residents to and from occupational therapy room.
- Demonstrating to residents and staff, as necessary, the procedures involved in the treatment process
- Perform occupational therapy in the resident’s room, if necessary
- Assist in designing and adapting equipment and living environment
- Teach basic living skills to residents, as necessary
- Promote participation in individual and group recreational activities
- Assist residents in ambulatory training, as necessary.
- Recommend modifications and changes in the resident’s therapy treatment as indicated
- Ensure that all therapists’ notes are informative and descriptive of the care provided and of the resident’s response to the care
