Overview
Martin Ice Arena, located within the Isabella Community Sportsplex, is seeking a full-time Manager to lead the charge in creating an exciting, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests and team members. This dynamic role combines operational oversight, team leadership, and guest experience management to ensure the arena runs smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing daily operations, supervising staff, coordinating events, and maintaining exceptional customer service standards. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily arena operations, including scheduling, maintenance, and safety protocols to ensure optimal functioning of all facilities.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate staff members across various departments, including rink attendants, pro shop/retail, concessions, and customer service personnel.
- Manage event planning and execution—from public skating sessions to private parties and tournaments—ensuring seamless coordination and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of guest services by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and enhancing overall visitor experience.
- Handle shift management duties such as staff scheduling, cash handling, point-of-sale transactions, and ensuring adherence to operational policies.
- Develop reports on arena performance, incident logs, attendance figures, and operational metrics to inform strategic decisions.
- Foster a positive team environment through effective supervision.
- Coordinate with Isabella Community Sportsplex management personnel to ensure effective communication and uniformity amongst shared resources and goals. (Example, maintenance, custodial, marketing and communications, policies and procedures, etc.).
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing recreational facilities or similar venues. A focus on ice arenas or sports complexes is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in staff supervision and team management roles.
- Experience in events management—planning, organizing, and executing various types of events within a venue setting.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Technical proficiency with facility management systems, point-of-sale technology, and basic maintenance procedures.
- Ability to write clear reports and maintain detailed records of operations and incidents.
- Experience with shift management tasks such as cash handling and guest services operations.
- Availability to work, primarily, evenings, weekends, and events as needed.
- Clear understanding of a seasonal-heavy schedule, primarily September through March, requiring periods of long hours, high operational demand, and employee supervision. In contrast, April through August provides an opportunity for a reduced schedule and focused planning time.
Pay: $43,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
