About the Role
We're an OEM and contract job shop with a full fabrication floor — lasers, robotic welding, press brakes, hardware insertion, stamping, and CNC machining — looking for a hands-on engineer who's as comfortable at a machine control as behind a workstation. You'll split your time roughly 50/50 between the shop floor and the computer. And we're not just building other people's parts: we're developing and bringing to market our own new products, and you'll be part of that from concept to production.
Two things define this role:
You own CNC machining programming. We don't currently have a CNC programmer — you'll be it. You take every machined part from CAM programming through setup, workholding, and first-article approval, then hand the job to our operators for production and move on to the next task.
You're the “getting parts right” person. We have programmers running our lasers and press brakes. Your job isn't to run every machine — it's to be the engineer responsible for making sure parts come out correct across every process: right dimensions, right tolerances, right the first time. When something isn't working — a bend that won't hold tolerance, a weldment that's fighting the fixture, a drawing that doesn't match reality — you're the one who figures it out and fixes it at the source.

What You'll Do
On the shop floor (~50%)
- Program, set up, and prove out all CNC machining work — mills and lathes, CAM programming, tooling selection, workholding, and first-article inspection — then hand off to operators for production
- Own part quality and manufacturability across laser cutting, robotic welding, forming, hardware insertion, and stamping — working alongside our programmers and operators, not replacing them
- Troubleshoot production problems in real time: dimensional issues, tolerance stack-ups, weld distortion, forming springback, fitment problems
- Run first articles and dial in new jobs before they hit production
- Build and test prototypes of our new products — hands-on iteration until the design is right and ready to manufacture
- Drive fixturing, tooling, and process improvements that make jobs faster and more repeatable
At the computer (~50%)
- Design parts, weldments, and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Write and optimize CNC programs (CAM)
- Produce clear, complete fabrication drawings (machined parts, sheet metal flat patterns, weldments) with proper tolerancing
- Help develop new products — design, prototype, and iterate on our own product lines, taking ideas from concept through production-ready design
- Review incoming customer drawings and models for manufacturability — catch problems before they reach the floor
- Support quoting and estimating — review RFQs for feasibility and help estimate cycle times, processes, and tooling for new work
- Create and maintain BOMs, revisions, and design documentation
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in a machining and/or metal fabrication environment
- CNC machining programming experience — required. CAM software (Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar), G-code fluency, setups, and workholding. This is the one non-negotiable.
- Strong working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication — laser cutting, forming/press brake, hardware insertion, and stamping — enough to diagnose problems and speak the language of the people running the machines
- Familiarity with robotic welding and hands-on welding experience (MIG/TIG)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, and detailed drawings)
- Ability to read, create, and interpret fabrication drawings with GD&T fundamentals
- Solid grasp of sheet metal fundamentals — bend allowances, flat patterns, tolerances by process
- A practical, get-it-done mindset — you take ownership of a part from print to finished, in-spec product
- Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent hands-on trade and fabrication experience — we care more about what you can do than where you learned it
Nice to Have
- Multi-axis machining experience
- Weld fixturing and stamping die/tooling design
- First-article and inspection experience (FAI, PPAP, or similar)
- New product development experience — taking a product from concept to market
- Familiarity with AWS welding standards

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
