Job Summary
The Art teacher is responsible for developing in each student aninterest and the ability for creative expression in visual terms using skillsand techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; todevelop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and developtalents of students in the field of art. The art teacher is required tosupervise and assist students, grade artwork, encourage creativity and teachtechniques in a variety of mediums.
Job Description
Teach in the various art mediums such aspaint, pencil, charcoal, pastels and even photography.
Teach knowledge of drawing, lettering and arthistory.
Understand the versatility of acrylic paints;dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting and monoprinting
Knows and can apply elements of design andmodern principles of art
Instruct students in proper care and use oftools and equipment
Organize storage areas and control use of materials,equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required fordistribution and collection
Select and requisition books, instructionalmaterials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records
Evaluate each student’s performance and growthin knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepare progress reports
Plan and present art displays and exhibitionsdesigned to exhibit student’s work for the school and the community
Perform any other duties as may be assigned byAdministration
EducationalRequirements
_ a bachelor's degree or higher accreditation in art or finearts with an emphasis in education.
Required Skills
· Knowledge of arthistory and different art genres in order to teach a range of art styles.
· Ability to communicateconcrete and abstract concepts to students
· Ability to spot andcultivate creativity
