We are a growing subcontractor specializing in multifamily & hotel construction (cabinet & countertop) projects across the U.S. Our team partners with leading general contractors and developers to deliver high-quality work on hotel, garden-style, podium, and multi-family projects. We are seeking a skilled Sr. Estimator to add to our estimating team.
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- As a Preconstruction Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating and determining the approximate costs of construction and developing Take-offs and Estimates. This role requires experience to price significant and prominent projects within the industry, and an understanding of construction trades, product types, building techniques, material, labor costs, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and engineering drawings to perform precise material takeoffs, calculating the exact quantity, size, and type of cabinetry required for unit kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Analyze project proposals to determine costs and prepare detailed estimates.
- Communicate with project team to clarify project details.
- Collaborating with other departments and providing occasional support to project managers during the construction phase.
- Work independently on multi-family projects.
- Bid Preparation:
- Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals, quotes, and budgets to general contractors, homeowners, and developers.
- Coordinate and follow up on RFIs (Requests for Information) and clarifications during the bidding process.
- Track bid opportunities, deadlines, and bid results.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination:
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, fabrication, and installation services.
- Evaluate vendor pricing and lead times for competitiveness and feasibility.
- Project Handoff:
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and production staff to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to production.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to communicate scope, budget, and expectations.
- Value Engineering:
- Recommend cost-saving alternatives and materials where appropriate to maintain competitiveness while preserving quality and design intent.
Experience in multi-family construction or a related field, experience in cabinet and / or countertops; and/or a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline. Professional certifications in construction estimating or project management are a plus. Thorough knowledge of multiple product types and trades.
Systems Knowledge: Knowledgeable in Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and/or estimating software such as Bluebeam; CAD; PlanSwift.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills with the capacity to work well under pressure. Proficient in construction estimating software and tools, reviewing and interpreting construction documents, reading and writing of technical specifications.
