Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shift Manager to oversee daily operations in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of food preparation, restaurant management, and customer service. This role is integral to ensuring smooth shift transitions, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and fostering a positive team atmosphere. Previous experience in quick service, casual dining, or fine dining settings is highly valued, along with a solid background in hospitality and food industry management.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards
- Lead and motivate staff through effective training, coaching, and development to enhance team performance
- Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring quality control and compliance with food safety regulations
- Manage POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for accurate order processing and cash handling
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and control food costs to optimize profitability
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to maintain hygiene standards
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and promote exceptional customer service experiences
- Conduct staff interviews and participate in hiring decisions to build a competent team
- Assist with budgeting, scheduling, and operational planning to meet business goals
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in restaurant management or food service management roles with supervising responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS; cash handling expertise required
- Extensive background in food preparation, kitchen management, and food safety standards
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and develop staff effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence
- Ability to manage inventory control, budgeting, and operational workflows efficiently
- Experience in managing both casual dining and fine dining environments; banquet or catering experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills for interviewing, team management, and customer interactions
- Familiarity with culinary techniques, food production processes, and hospitality industry best practices
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
