Position Description:
Internal role to support the sales team in providing cost estimates for new products. This includes modeling the manufacturing costs for our extrusion, secondary, and injection molding processes using an in-house tool that combines assumptions for standard costs (material, labor, and overhead) with a learned process to understand the equipment outputs and constraints. This role will be part of the engineering team and will also support other tasks and projects for the development and process engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate delivery of cost estimates, along with the ability to explain the process and assumptions
- Working with the engineering and operations teams to understand our process capabilities and constraints
- Updating the model, as necessary, to make it more robust and account for changes in our process or additional capabilities
- Post-mortem reviews of cost estimates to determine the accuracy of the model and to drive improvements in the process
- Active participation in ongoing product development and continuous improvement projects
- Support the Engineering group with design projects and new product introduction trials
- Completing all other tasks as assigned
Competencies/Skills:
- Very strong analytical skills and the ability to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in Solidworks, AutoCad experience is helpful, but not required
- Understanding of ERP systems, IQMS experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for internal customer interaction
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage projects
Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology – Mechanical or Industrial preferred, Commensurate experience or a 2 year degree or certificate program is acceptable
- 2+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience in rubber/plastic profile extrusion, preferred
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
