Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management in accordance with prescribed protocols.
- Operate EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient care activities meticulously.
- Conduct specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across departments like ICU, emergency medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), nephrology (dialysis), and geriatrics to coordinate patient treatment plans.
- Manage acute pain cases and participate in trauma medicine and Level I & II trauma center protocols to ensure rapid response during emergencies.
- Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as medication administration, wound care (ostomy care), infection control practices, and discharge planning.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, critical care (ICU/CCU), emergency room settings, or long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and lab specimen collection/processing confidently.
- Familiarity with infection control standards and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and safety at all times.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure is a plus; familiarity with advanced procedures like ventilator management or neonatal ventilators is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessment and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
