American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit (8S) position requiring 5+ years of experience, active TX RN licensure, and hands-on oncology skills including mediport, PICC, and central line management.

Work in an inpatient Oncology unit (8S) at an acute care hospital in San Antonio, TX
-
Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Rotating weekend requirement

36-hour workweek with 12-hour shifts
-
Floating to other units is required per facility floating policy
-
No on-call requirements
-
EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
-
Procedures performed include chemotherapy administration, central line and mediport access, lab draws, blood product transfusions, and CHG baths with central line dressing changes
-
13-week contract
-
Active TX RN license required; compact license accepted only if TX is the primary state — temporary licenses are not accepted

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required
-
Minimum 5 years of RN experience required

Oncology nursing experience required

Hands-on experience with mediports, PICCs, and central lines required

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required

Chemotherapy certification is preferred

Meditech EMR experience is preferred

Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology patients receiving blood product transfusions and central line therapies

Perform central line dressing changes and CHG baths following unit protocols

All travelers are required to float per the Methodist floating policy, which will be discussed during the interview

Dress code: Navy scrubs required for RNs

Hair must be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors; beards and facial hair must be neatly trimmed

Visible body art should be covered whenever possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
