We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Experienced Seamstress / Alterations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will bring your expertise in garment sewing, clothing alterations, and fabric materials to ensure our customers’ clothing fits perfectly and looks flawless. Your skills in garment construction, pressing, and hand sewing will help us uphold our reputation for quality and precision in clothing alterations and custom apparel production.
Responsibilities
- Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments with precision.
- Use sewing machines, pressing machines, and hand sewing techniques to achieve high-quality finishes.
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to meet professional standards for appearance.
- Consult with customers to understand their alteration needs and provide expert advice on fabric materials and garment care.
- Handle garment construction tasks for custom apparel production, ensuring accurate stitching and finishing details.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including sewing areas and pressing stations.
- Ensure all alterations meet quality standards while adhering to safety procedures related to press operation and sewing equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a seamstress or alterations specialist within the fashion retail or garment industry.
- Strong knowledge of clothing alterations, garment sewing, and fabric materials.
- Proficiency with sewing machines, pressing machines, hand sewing tools, and press operation.
- Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and garment construction techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration options.
- Basic math skills for measuring fabrics and calculating adjustments accurately.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while working on multiple garments daily.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with fashion retail environments or custom apparel production.
- Knowledge of stitching techniques specific to different fabric types.
- Familiarity with sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
