About the Role
c3controls is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and hands-on Product Specialist to provide tactical execution, data support, and technical assistance to the Product Management team.
In this entry-level role, you will support the Product Manager with data compilation, BOM updates, catalog maintenance, hands-on product reviews, and product technical support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support, Quality & Application Assistance
- Everyday Product Technical Support: Serve as the go-to resource for day-to-day application questions and product performance issues, working with internal teams to resolve them efficiently.
- Product Performance Analysis: Partner with applications and quality engineering teams to gather field data, sample components, and customer reports regarding product behavior; document findings and track cross-functional resolution workflows to drive continuous product enhancement.
- Product Training: Help prepare slide decks, organize demonstration samples, and deliver foundational product training over time as your technical knowledge grows.
2. Physical Product Review & Prototype Support
- Hands-On Inspection: Perform initial physical reviews and side-by-side product inspections comparing c3controls devices against competitor models.
- Prototype Assembly & Testing: Assist with physical prototype builds, sample kit assembly, and basic bench testing to verify product fit, form, and function during development phases.
3. Data Compilation & System Updates
- Gather & Format Data: Pull, compile, and format datasets regarding product line sales, inventory status, and competitor pricing into clean Excel spreadsheets for Product Manager review.
- System Data Entry: Execute directed updates and data cleanup within core item databases and Bill of Materials (BOM) records under the guidance of the Product Manager.
- Partner System Support: Upload, update, and audit product specifications, technical attributes, and image files across partner sites and internal databases.
4. Documentation & Administrative Support
- Catalog & Collateral Updates: Execute tactical updates to product catalog pages, technical spec sheets, and installation instructions, ensuring part numbers, configurators, and specifications are accurate.
- Internal Bulletins: Draft basic internal product updates and bulletins to keep sales, customer service, and operations teams informed of directed product changes.
- Cross-Functional Tracking: Track and route product change documentation through engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure directed projects and initiatives move forward.
5. Support in New Product Development Market Research
- Compile Competitor Analysis
- Research Competitor Pricing
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technical Writing, or an Engineering/Technology field preferred; OR 1–3 years of experience in technical customer support, technical writing, quality assurance or product marketing
- Hands-On Aptitude: Comfortable working with physical hardware, examining and assembling electro-mechanical components, and participating in basic prototype builds/bench checks.
- Detail-Driven Execution: High comfort level performing routine data entry tasks (like BOM updates and database cleanups) where precision is essential.
- Toolbox: proficient in workbook tools (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data manipulation) for analyzing product portfolio health and pricing datasets.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. You must be comfortable conducting training sessions or speaking directly with a customer.
- Technical Writing: Author clear, high-quality technical literature, including catalogs, installation sheets, white papers, and technical briefs.
- Curiosity & Learnability: High mechanical/electrical curiosity. Willingness to learn the basics of c3controls product lines (pushbuttons, circuit breakers, transformers, motor controls) and electrical standards (UL508A/NEC) over time.
- Location: Primarily remote work setup, with the ability to come on-site to our Beaver, PA headquarters 2–3 times per month for hands-on product reviews, prototype evaluations, and team coordination.
