As an After-School Counselor, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and exciting environment where children can learn, grow, build friendships, and have fun after the school day ends. What You'll Do
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children during after-school hours and on non-school days.
- Plan and lead fun, engaging activities including arts & crafts, sports, STEM projects, games, theater, and outdoor play.
- Assist children with homework and encourage a love for learning.
- Build positive relationships while encouraging kindness, teamwork, and confidence.
- Use positive behavior management techniques to create a respectful and supportive environment.
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and fellow staff members about children's progress and needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children in a childcare center, school, camp, tutoring program, or similar setting is preferred.
- A positive attitude, patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with kids.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage groups of children while keeping activities fun and engaging.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
- Completion of the Florida DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training (or willingness to complete upon hire).
- Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening.
