Handyman / Building Maintenance Technician

We are a property management company specializing in co-living residences — furnished, community-focused homes where residents share common spaces and enjoy flexible lease terms. We manage residential buildings in NYC and are looking for a reliable, skilled Handyman to keep our properties in excellent condition.
Role Overview
You will be the go-to person for day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across one of our building clusters. This is a hands-on, independent role that requires someone who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly, and can manage their own schedule across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
· Perform general repairs throughout residential units and common areas (plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, fixtures, appliances, locks, etc.)
· Conduct routine preventive maintenance and building walkthroughs to identify issues before they escalate
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests submitted by tenants and management
· Coordinate with vendors or contractors when specialized work is required
· Keep accurate records of completed work, materials used, and any ongoing issues
· Ensure all buildings remain clean, safe, and compliant with basic building standards
· Communicate updates and findings clearly to property management
Requirements
· Fluent English (spoken and written) — clear communication with tenants and management is essential
· Proven hands-on experience in general building maintenance or handyman work
· Ability to perform a broad range of repairs independently without constant supervision
· Reliable transportation to travel between buildings within the neighborhood is a plus
· Strong problem-solving skills — ability to assess a situation and figure out the best fix
· Self-motivated with excellent time management; comfortable managing your own daily schedule
· Positive, professional attitude when interacting with residents and staff
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working in residential, multi-unit, or co-living properties
· Familiarity with NYC building maintenance standards
· Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
· Ability to source materials locally and manage minor supply needs
