Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, adhering to food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on dish preparation and ingredient selection
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and workstations
- Support food presentation efforts to ensure visually appealing dishes are served promptly
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service times
- Follow all food handling protocols to prevent contamination and ensure quality control
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a dietary aide in a restaurant or healthcare setting
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering services is highly desirable
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and serving personnel
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and experience working within dietary departments or healthcare kitchens is a plus
