About the Role
The Shift Lead is a restaurant operations position responsible for helping maintain Leucadia Pizzeria’s standards for food quality, guest service, cleanliness, safety, and teamwork. This position supports the full restaurant, including counter service, kitchen support, food preparation, order accuracy, deliveries, cleaning, and other operational needs.
The Shift Lead will help coordinate the flow of the shift by communicating priorities, answering team member questions, resolving guest issues, following up on assigned tasks, helping maintain order accuracy and food quality, and ensuring the restaurant remains clean, stocked, and ready for service. Shift Leads may be scheduled to open or close the restaurant and may be responsible for completing opening, closing, cash handling, checklist, and security procedures as assigned. The Shift Lead may also be assigned Keyholder responsibilities based on business needs and manager approval.
This is not a management position. The Shift Lead does not have authority to hire, fire, discipline, promote, approve timecards, change pay rates, or make independent employment decisions. Any performance, conduct, attendance, or policy concerns must be reported to management for review and handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Restaurant Operations and Shift Support – Help keep scheduled shifts organized, efficient, and on track by supporting the full restaurant, including counter service, phones, to-go orders, delivery support, kitchen support, food preparation, cleaning, stocking, and other operational needs.
- Opening, Closing, and Operational Readiness – Assist with opening and closing duties, including completing checklists, preparing service areas, securing supplies, and ensuring the restaurant is clean, stocked, organized, and ready for service.
- Guest Service and Order Accuracy – Provide friendly and professional guest service, answer menu questions, assist with guest concerns, confirm orders are complete and accurate, and help resolve order issues within company guidelines.
- Stand-Ups, Training, and Coaching – Hold stand-ups as needed to review expectations, training topics, specials, operational updates, and team assignments. Assist with training employees on standards, best practices, side work, cleanliness, and company policies. Provide coaching as needed and escalate repeated or serious concerns to management.
- Team Support and Daily Task Follow-Up – Help ensure team members follow schedules and proper clock-in/clock-out procedures, take required breaks, complete assigned work, maintain clean work areas, and assist with additional projects as assigned. Verify that opening, closing, cleaning, and shift checklists are completed as required.
- Counter, Phones, To-Go, and Delivery Flow – Support the flow of counter service, phone orders, online orders, to-go orders, and deliveries. Help ensure orders are entered correctly, packed accurately, completed on time, and communicated clearly to team members and delivery drivers.
- Cash Handling, Registers, and Keyholder Duties – Follow all cash handling procedures and assist with opening or closing registers, counting cash drawers, cashing out team members, verifying payments, settling credit cards, organizing receipts, preparing cash drops or deposits, locking doors, setting alarms, and following all keyholder and building security procedures.
- Cleanliness, Food Safety, and Compliance – Follow and support food safety, sanitation, handwashing, workplace safety, and cleanliness standards. Help ensure work areas, guest areas, restrooms, kitchen areas, equipment, and storage areas remain clean, stocked, and organized.
- Communication with Management – Communicate guest concerns, service issues, employee coaching needs, attendance or scheduling concerns, cash handling issues, keyholder concerns, safety issues, out-of-stock items, supply needs, equipment issues, or other operational concerns to management.
- Additional Responsibilities – Participate in deep cleaning tasks, organizational projects, special assignments, or other duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Prior restaurant, food service, kitchen, counter service, customer service, or related experience required.
- Prior experience as a shift lead, keyholder, trainer, senior team member, cook, driver, cashier, or restaurant support role preferred.
- Ability to work in multiple restaurant stations, including counter service, phones, to-go orders, kitchen support, food preparation, expo, cleaning, and delivery support.
- Strong guest service skills, including the ability to handle guest questions, concerns, and order issues professionally.
- Ability to help keep the shift organized by communicating priorities, following up on assigned tasks, and supporting team members during service.
- Ability to provide peer support, coaching, and direction without acting as a manager or making management-level decisions.
- Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with urgency, accuracy, and professionalism in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during busy or stressful periods.
- Ability to follow opening, closing, keyholder, cash handling, safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
- Must maintain a valid Food Handler Card.
Schedule and Additional Hours
- The primary need for this position is a part-time opening Shift Lead. Applicants must be available to work morning opening shifts, including weekends and holidays based on business needs.
- Depending on the employee’s availability, qualifications, and business needs, additional hours may be available in another role, such as delivery driver or counter team member.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

- Ability to work around hot equipment, sharp utensils, varying temperatures, and typical restaurant noise levels.
