Your Role
At Whitsitt IA, Assistant Project Managers are emerging leaders who support project delivery, strengthen client and team communication, and build the experience needed to become successful Project Managers.
As a Whitsitt IA Assistant Project Manager, you will support one or more project teams through the design, documentation, and delivery of each project phase to help complete deliverables on schedule, implement design intent, and meet project goals. You will assist Project Managers in coordinating project teams, consultants, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects remain on schedule and on budget. You will help make expectations clear, decisions deliberate, and progress visible—both internally to our team and externally to our clients and partners.
You will work closely with Project Managers and firm leadership to develop and strengthen client relationships, support team members, deepen your industry knowledge, and contribute to the growth of our practice. You will impart what you have learned to others and actively advance team and firm goals, strengthening our work, our partnerships, and our firm.
What You Will Do
- Assist in leading project teams through the design, documentation, and delivery of each project.
- Assist in tracking and managing project financial performance, staffing utilization, and profitability.
- Assist in developing and managing project schedules, design and production plans, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Assist in ensuring the survey, modeling, and documentation of existing conditions at project sites is sufficient to successfully implement proposed design solutions and construct new work.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for clients, supporting Project Managers in maintaining strong communication and elevating the client experience.
- Assist in scheduling and facilitating project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Assist in guiding project teams through design, documentation, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
- Assist in developing design solutions through collaboration, ideation, and strategic decision-making.
- Assist in the oversight and production of construction documents and other deliverables, working primarily in Revit.
- Coordinate with project consultants and assist in actively managing communication between all project stakeholders.
- Work with consultants, contractors, and vendors to actively maintain project schedules.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify project risks, conflicts, and challenges, helping to resolve them in collaboration with Project Managers.
- Assist in the review of project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and quality prior to issuance.
- Prepare project presentations, reports, and other client-facing materials.
- Review project submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and other forms of construction administration documentation under the guidance of Project Managers.
- Assist in tracking construction progress by coordinating site visits, construction meetings, documentation of construction progress, punch lists, and other construction administration activities, supporting Project Managers as they direct project team members to effectively complete these efforts.
- Assist in ensuring project designs are successfully implemented during construction administration.
- Assist in tracking and managing project team performance, including individual and team time, utilization, and accountability.
- Work with leadership to develop your career and prepare for future Project Manager responsibilities.
- Actively pursue industry knowledge, set and achieve individual goals, and impart what you have learned to others.
- Actively support team members and advance firm goals.
Your Qualifications
- 5-9 years of experience in conceptualizing, documenting, detailing, and coordinating the design, documentation, and delivery of commercial projects.
- Professional degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
- Licensed Architect or NCIDQ-certified Interior Designer.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the management of commercial projects through multiple phases of project delivery.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with architectural and interior design principles and practices.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with building codes, structures, systems, permitting processes, and construction practices.
- Experience preparing construction documents and project deliverables.
- Experience implementing and maintaining project schedules, design and production plans, and project budgets under the guidance of a Project Manager.
- Experience participating in client meetings and presenting project deliverables.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other specialty consultants.
- Experience coordinating consultant drawings with architectural drawings.
- Experience working with industry vendors and partners to review and coordinate specifications.
- Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, developing, documenting, and coordinating architectural and/or interior design solutions appropriate to your discipline, including but not limited to: code and zoning analysis, site and building plans, building sections and elevations, building envelope details, wall, ceiling, roof, and floor assemblies, life safety and egress plans, partition plans and details, reflected ceiling plans and details, power plans and details, finish plans and details, interior elevations and details, millwork design and details, lighting design, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Experience in or familiarity with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator.
- Experience in or familiarity with mentoring and training team members and presenting project deliverables to clients.

Expectation
Whitsitt IA full-time professionals are expected to be in-office Monday through Friday for the core work hours of 9am-5pm unless time out of the office is scheduled in advance.

Remote workdays or timeframes may be approved by leadership. We value flexibility and recognize that strong performance requires balance. We are happy to discuss specific situations or requirements of individual candidates regarding remote work.
Travel
We have active and upcoming projects throughout the United States. You may be expected to travel to various sites with your project team as dictated by project requirements.

Salary Range
$75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, licensure status, demonstrated capabilities, and overall fit for the role.
