Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient
- Assess patients’ medical and dental histories, vital signs, and overall health status to inform treatment plans
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency
- Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper medical coding
- Maintain detailed and accurate dental records within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification
- Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health
- Skilled in chairside assisting, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and infection control procedures
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical records management, and medical coding standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, demonstrating patience and professionalism
