About the Gallery
We are one of artist Chris Roberts-Antieau’s three gallery locations. A pioneer in fiber arts, Chris’s been creating intricately embroidered tapestries in her signature style of fabric appliqué and free motion embroidery since the mid-80s. In 2010 she opened her inaugural gallery in New Orleans and expanded to Santa Fe in 2017. In 2025, Chris celebrated the opening of her third gallery in Carmel-By-The-Sea. Outside of her three galleries Chris’s work can be seen in the Baltimore Visionary Arts Museum, the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, and the Boxing Hall of Fame.
All of Chris’s galleries exclusively show her pieces. Her spaces are vibrant, welcoming, and authentic to both her work and philosophy.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, personable, and reliable part-time Gallery Salesperson to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with sales experience who enjoys working independently, engaging with clients, and contributing to a creative environment. Our pieces range from $550 to $81,000, so the ability to provide professional, helpful, and caring service while closing high end sales is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and engage all visitors who enter the gallery, providing a warm and memorable gallery experience
- Educate prospective clients about the artist, artwork, and available pieces
- Drive sales through building and maintaining relationships with clients and collectors
- Provide excellent client support through personalized service and strong product knowledge
- Open and close the gallery as needed and manage day-to-day operations while working solo
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation of the gallery
- Assist with inventory tracking and artwork management across locations
- Communicate with team members across all three gallery locations as needed
Qualifications
- Prior sales experience required (gallery or luxury retail experience a plus)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented
- Interest in art and enthusiasm to learn about the artist’s medium, work and story
- Comfortable working solo for extended periods
Compensation & Schedule
- $15/hour + 7% commission on sales; earning potential of 50k-80k
- Part-time hours (flexible scheduling; weekend availability preferred)
