Café Shift Lead / Barista & Kitchen Staff
Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, high-energy, and professional Café Shift Lead to join our growing team! This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role where no two days are the same. If you love people, take pride in your work, and thrive in an energetic environment — we want to hear from you!
Schedule & Hours:
- Monday-Friday (closed weekends and major holidays)
- Shift Hours: 7:15 AM – 2:15 PM
- Arrival Time: 7:00 AM – 7:15 AM for opening duties and shift setup
- This is a 7-hour shift with a consistent daily schedule
- Must be reliable and punctual — the team depends on you being there and ready on time
- Availability flexibility for additional shifts is always a plus
We are a busy café and we love that about us — but we do want to let you know what to expect on the floor:
- Mornings can get busy and fast-paced — especially right after opening
- There will be times where a few orders are coming in at once and you will need to stay on top of things
- We just ask that you stay focused and keep a positive attitude when things pick up

Daily Responsibilities Include:
Opening Duties (7:00 AM – 7:15 AM)
- Arrive at 7:00 AM – 7:15 AM to open the café before your shift officially begins
- Unlock, set up, and prepare the café for daily operations
- Ensure all stations are clean, stocked, and fully ready before the first customer walks in
- Get equipment powered up, coffee brewing, and food prep started immediately
Cooking & Food Prep
- Prepare and cook fresh food items according to café standards and recipes
- Complete daily prep work including chopping, portioning, and organizing ingredients
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times
Coffee & Beverage Making
- Craft high-quality coffee drinks including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and more
- Operate and maintain coffee equipment properly
- Prepare hot and cold beverages with consistency and care
Stocking & Inventory
- Stock shelves, coolers, and stations throughout the shift
- Rotate products and ensure freshness
- Communicate low inventory needs to management
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the entire shift
- Clean equipment, counters, dishes, and dining areas regularly
- Follow all health code and sanitation guidelines
Register & Transactions
- Operate the POS register accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash, card, and digital transactions with care
- Process orders quickly without sacrificing accuracy
Customer Service
- Greet every customer with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude
- Take orders accurately and answer questions about the menu
- Go above and beyond to ensure every guest leaves happy
- Maintain a calm and positive demeanor even during the busiest and most stressful moments

What Makes You Stand Out:
- Previous café, barista, or food service experience (preferred but not required — we will train the right person!)

Requirements:
- Must be available for the 7:15 AM – 2:15 PM shift with a 7:00 AM arrival for opening
- Must be able to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful work environment
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 lbs
- Food handler's permit (or willingness to obtain one)
- Must be reliable, professional, and a team player
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude even during high-stress rushes
