Responsibilities:
- Load stock into work holding devices and monitors the machining process.
- Performs visual and physical inspection of parts produced per Laitram Machine Shop Quality Management System.
- Performs accurate transactions (clock on, clock off, entering quantities, closing out operation when done, filling in appropriate paperwork).
- Operates equipment when setup operations are complete, up to and including high volume production orders.
- Cleans equipment used and keeps work area clean/organized.
- Performs accurate and repeatable set-ups across a variety of CNC Milling and Lathe machines.
- Make necessary adjustments to program speeds/feeds, work holding, and tooling to maintain nominal print dimensions and required surface finishes.
- Provides effective training and mentorship to develop the skills of other machinists.
- Provides accurate CNC programs to the shop floor with effective communication of setup/tooling information for others to be successful.
Requirements:
- Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years combined experience setting up or programming CNC equipment.
- Proficient using inspection tooling (i.e., micrometers, calipers, gages) to accurately measure part features.
- Blueprint reading skills.
- Knowledge of G and M codes.
- Math skills. Fluent with trigonometry and geometry a plus.
- Is a self-managed individual able to work well individually or in a team environment.
- Is flexible and responsive to changing demands.
- Possess excellent time management skills.
- Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Possess strong computer skills.
- Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Experience using CAM software. Attained proficiency providing effective programs in one or more CNC disciplines. (Horizontal Mill, Vertical Mill, Lathe, Multi-axis etc.)
- Proficient with GD&T.
- Team Leadership Experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with manual and automated CMM’s.
- Experience with FDM 3D Printing.
- Experience designing/creating repeatable work holding solutions.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience quoting CNC machined parts.
