Duties
- Assist attorneys with case preparation across various practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, and civil litigation by conducting thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal databases.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; ensure all records are organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Conduct client interviews and gather pertinent information while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Support project management efforts by coordinating deadlines, scheduling meetings, and tracking case progress to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Handle administrative responsibilities such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and general clerical support to streamline office operations.
- Review documents for procedural compliance and assist with court filings in accordance with procedural law knowledge.
Qualifications
- Proven paralegal experience or legal support experience in diverse practice areas such as estate planning or family law.
- Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools; familiarity with procedural law is highly desirable.
- Excellent writing skills for legal drafting, correspondence, and documentation; ability to proofread meticulously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with document management systems like iManage or PCLaw.
- Experience with legal case management software and document review platforms.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective client communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
